  • Little known fact: I grew up in a small town known for its onions. Every year they have a big Onion Festival with plane shows and craft booths and such. The official mascot is Yumion, a giant overall-wearing-onion. I was once Yumion for the Vidalia Onion Festival.
  • When I grow up: I always wanted to be a veterinarian. I just thought that it meant you got to play with animals all day. Then I learned that it was more like being a doctor and decided against it.
  • Favourite holiday destination: I think it’d be great to stay in a little hut on a remote Indonesian island. The kind with a hammock for a bed and a view of other tiny islands. I’d catch my meals by spear fishing off the dock. No phones or TV, just island living.

Jason Tatum

Jason TatumJason Tatum is native to the beautiful city of Atlanta, GA, where we spent his early years traipsing through the woods of the outlying areas and generally getting into a lot of trouble. He graduated from Kennesaw State University with a B.A. in English Literature. While in university and out of university, Jason worked in various sectors of the non-profit industry, along with the church. Jason has served in Young Life, local churches, inner city programs, a socially-conscious business start-up, and more. Jason was a part of the first team of exchange students to work in the Globalscope ministry in Salamanca, Spain, where he performed several skits that were not that funny. He loves reading and writing and is known by almost all as Tatum.

  • Little known fact: I’ve never been to Disney World, even though I’m from the state just above it. Even though my parents went twice when I was a child. Even though I was of the ages 10 and 12 when they went. Even though I’m not bitter. Not bitter at all.
  • When I grow up: I went between a lot of different things, including the usuals like being a pilot or a baseball player, but I also talked of being a philosopher pretty early on. I really felt like this was some kind of profession that you could applied for.
  • Favourite holiday destination: I would go to a lake cabin in the mountains of British Columbia. Actually, I would prefer to just move there. At which case I would then like to vacation to Selly Oak.

Caleb Mallard

Caleb MallardCaleb finished a degree in Theology in 2003, since then he has worked for a Church in Solihull as a youth worker and a pastor and has joined the Canvas staff part-time. He is married to Kate. Caleb loves Birmingham almost as much as he loves life itself.

  • Little known fact: I was one of the S-Club Juniors. Not really. But I did watch their TV show when I was way too old for it.
  • When I grow up: Cartoonist for the Beano. Throw some puppets into the mix and I would have been pretty satisfied.
  • Favourite holiday destination: I’d like to go to one of those private islands where you are the only person on the island. Then I could play naked Robinson Crusoe.

Rebekah Holt

Rebekah HoltRebekah graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University in 2004 with a degree in Textile Engineering. From 2004-2005 she worked at Georgia Tech Christian Campus Fellowship as an intern. She and Josh married in September of 2007 and welcomed their first child Lilla Jane in April of 2010. From October 2005 until November 2010 she worked for a work apparel company in the US and she has recently joined the Canvas team.

  • Little known fact: I once dressed up as a singing elephant for Odyssey of the Mind.  I was playing Juliette set during the time period of Noah’s Ark.  My team made it to the world competition that year.
  • When I grow up: I really wanted to be an Epidemiologist working on level 5 diseases at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.  My goal in life was to find a cure for Ebola and other highly deadly diseases.  Obviously that didn’t happen…
  • Favourite holiday destination: Qingdao, China so that I can visit  friends that live there that I met through my previous job.  I would love to see the coast in that part of China and experience Chinese culture and life outside of Beijing.

Jenny Bulcraig

  • Jenny BulcraigLittle known fact: All my life, my dad has been a compulsive sock buyer. Whenever he’s in a shop where he can buy socks he tends to buy them, no matter how many he already has. I caught onto this trick years ago: don’t ever buy socks, just nick Dads’ instead! Consequently, I don’t own a single pair of women’s socks – just men’s. He did finally start to notice eventually, but he’s a great bloke so he didn’t mind. He actually found it amusing.
  • When I grow up: I had various possibilities lined up. At different stages I was angling to be a dinosaur, a ballerina, an astronaut, a vet, a cowgirl, an astronomer, a pop star and a Disney animator when I finally hit upon actor aged 9. That one stuck until I was 19. Deep down, I still want to be a dinosaur.
  • Favourite holiday destination: Cheesy as it sounds, it’s the people I’m with that really MAKE the trip what it is – so I can be on holiday anywhere and have a good time as long as I’m with the right people. At this point in life I’m quite taken with the idea of exploring New York with a really good group of mates. I also have my sights set on places in Italy, New Zealand and Australia… I have such a ‘To-Go’ list that I find this question really hard!
