Maybe you have seen people giving out free tea and coffee by the gates of the university. Perhaps you got a free burger from these same people at Urban Village on a Thursday afternoon. Maybe you met someone in a pub that talks about what they do on a Tuesday night. They might have talked about that pub on Coronation Road called TC’s. You may have even passed TC’s before and saw the bright red banner hanging over the door, calling you to come in on a Tuesday at 8pm. And maybe, after all of this, you were wondering what that was all about.
Walk through the doors around 8pm on a Tuesday at TC’s, and you will find that everything looks pretty much the same. Locals will be gathered around the bar and football will be on the screen. But, if you step to the back room, you will see that the entire back of TC’s has been transformed to welcome students in from a long and tiring day of university work or Facebook stalking their crushes.
Around the candle lit tables will be students laughing and sharing stories from their days with a homemade meal in front of them that happens to be completely free of charge. Eventually the band will climb onto the stage and rock with new and old songs that we all know and love. From Oasis to the Rolling Stones, the Canvas band plays it all.
You will likely laugh out loud at a sketch, hear and pray for events happening throughout the world, and listen to a short a talk on faith; a part of of the night that focuses our attentions on the on-going conversation taking place amongst our friends regarding what real faith is and what it looks like in
today’s world. In the end there will be a hilarious video letting you know what’s happening with Canvas that week. To top it all off, you’ll get dessert.
Tuesday Nights is full of great conversations, table tennis and other games, all of the joys of being in the pub, and a free dinner. Along the way we grow and learn together. It’s probably the best thing happening on a Tuesday in Selly Oak.
