A Weekend Away with Canvas

Posted on 29. Jan, 2010 by Allison in Announcements, Blog, Events, Video

On 5 – 7 March, Canvas will be going on a weekend away to Wales! We’ll pile into cars and make the drive to Newtown, Wales where we are staying at a retreat center. The cost is £35 per student and that includes lodging and all meals except for dinner on the way there. The weekend will look a lot like a Tuesday night at Canvas plus more. Our newest staff member, Caleb, will do a couple of talks and the band will also be playing throughout the weekend. There are loads of other fun things to do like games, table tennis, basketball, frisbee, and more! It is going to be a brilliant weekend and we hope you can join us! Check out this video to see what the drive to and from Wales will (kind of) look like:

If you’d like to let us know that you’ll be coming on this retreat, click here to sign up online. We hope you can make it; it’s going to be a great weekend!

Building a home for a family in need in Juarez, Mexico.

Canvas are teaming up with Casas por Cristo to build a house for a family in need in Juarez, Mexico this summer. We’d love to take a whole group of people to make it an even better experience for all. If you’d like to be a part of a trip like this, one that radically changes the life of a family, come to Canvas tonight (Thursday) at 8pm for a quick informational meeting (here’s more information on the Facebook event page).

If you have any interest at all and can make the time, you’ll definitely not want to miss it. Come be a part of something truly meaningful.

Birmingham Marrow

Posted on 29. Oct, 2009 by Kevin in Announcements, Blog, Events, News

Birmingham Marrow are holding a clinic at Canvas on 4th November from 12.30 – 4pm. Please come along and consider joining the Anthony Nolan Trust Bone Marrow Register.

About Joining the Register.
Attend the clinic, read through the form and check that you do not have any medical conditions that would mean you were unable to join the register.

Then fill in a health questionnaire, and a trained Marrow counsellor will then then explain the procedures involved should you be called up to donate at any point in the future. They will also answer any questions you may have.

Finally a trained phlebotomist will then take a small blood sample (4mls which is less than a teaspoon) which is sent off to be tissue typed.

As a new member of the Anthony Nolan Trust register you will receive a registration card and postal confirmation of your status as a potential life saver a few weeks after having provided your sample.

Every single person on the Register is making a wonderful commitment â?? to make themselves available to support another person in need of a life saving transplant.

This is an excellent way to make a real difference in someone’s life. Click here to view the Facebook Event Invitation to show your support.
